Zojirushi CW-PZC22FC Micom Super Boiler 2.2L, Floral Review

We have already had a similar boiler (of the same brand) at home for several years. It is very easy-to-use, quite reliable, and very well-suited for a household whose members love tea and instant coffee. Due to this reason, we decide to buy a second one (whose price is very reasonable at Amazon.com). The only thing you need to pay attention is that you need to remember to fill the boiler with water when the water is about to run out.

Zojirushi CD-FAC22 Zutto Micom Electric Dispensing Pot Review

Zojirushi CD-FAC22 Zutto Micom Electric Dispensing Pot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've used this pot for some months now on a near daily basis and had absolutely no problems. It is a must for the tea enthusiast. Not only is it more stylish than most dispensing pots, it is in a league of it's own for selecting temperature and sustaining temperature over time. It is quick to boil, and can silently keep your water ready for tea for all-day use.
The cost of this pot is higher than your average boiling pot, but it shows in the extra features and in the build quality. The pump action is a much-loved feature, as is the break-away safety cord (all appliances should have such a cord in my opinion). You can just tell that the people that designed this knew what they were doing and cared.
On the downside, I wish for 3 things: 1) the ability to set the temp to more degrees (such as between 160 and 180 for green tea instead of 140); 2) an on-off switch instead of always just disconnecting the cord; and 3) a slightly deeper indent behind the spout so that more tea pots can easily fit under the spout.
If you are serious about tea, buy this unit.

The "Zutto" Collection is Zojirushi's first collection of products that is designed and developed as a series of products. The concept of the Zutto Collection was born as a result of the collaboration between Zojirushi and an interior designer in Japan.Unlike other Zojirushi products, the physical body of the Zutto was designed first, then the inner technology.Zutto (Soot-tow), meaning "always" inJapanese, is designed to be enjoyed and used universally, for any occasion, anytime. This new Zutto Micom Electric Dispensing Pot has one-touch electric dispensing system and a micro computerized temperature control system. It will display actual water temperature at all times and has a Dechlorinate (by extended boiling) and decaling mode. Also new to this item is a water level gauge which includes a red air filled ball (water level ball) making it easier to check the water level and an option to turn off the beep indicator that alerts completion of boiling process and low water level.

Aroma AAP-325W 3-Liter Electric Pump Air Pot, White Review

Aroma AAP-325W 3-Liter Electric Pump Air Pot, White
Average Reviews:

Having grown up in a household with a hot water tap, I'm used to having near-boiling water available at all times - except on Shabbat, when, a rabbi told my mother, the tap could not be used (years later, a different rabbi, who had a different understanding of how the technology worked, told me it is permissible!). So once I was on my own, some sort of urn or electric pump pot was a must. I bought this one to replace an old one that died, and am pleasantly surprised by the new features, including the instant dispense button and switch (although they can't be used on Shabbat either, as they make a light go on, but you can still pump out water by pressing the original spot), and the concave front, which allows your cup or teapot to nestle up close. The price is right, the unit works, and my only concern is that I'll run out of water before Shabbat is over! In fact, I just bought another one as a Mother's Day gift and presented it today (now it can be told!).

Serve hot beverages to a crowd or keep hot water available for everyday use with this electric dispensing pot. It quickly boils up to 3 liters of hot water and works great for instant coffee, tea, hot chocolate, instant soup, oatmeal, and much more. The unit keeps the water hot for hours and offers three different dispensing options--press the "automatic dispenser" button, press down on the manual pressure pump, or push up on the dispensing switch located behind the spout for cup-activated water dispensing. For safety, the appliance provides a cool-touch exterior, locking lid, and detachable magnetic cord. Other highlights include an easy-to-read water-level window, "heat" and "warm" indicator lights, "unlock" and "reboil" functions, and a comfortable carrying handle. The electric hot-water dispensing pot measures 10-1/2 by 10-1/2 by 12-1/4 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Sunbeam 6141 Hot Shot Hot Water Dispenser Review

Sunbeam 6141 Hot Shot Hot Water Dispenser

The 1 star is for the price, not product...
This product has been available for years. Recently it has been difficut to find in local stores. It's perfect for dorm or desk use...tea, instant coffe, soup, oatmeal, etc.
However, it can be purchased @ BB&B for $19 and the %20 coupon discounts it to about $17 with tax. The shipping was waived because I ordered it from the store.
It's a nice product, but Amazon having the best price with shipping at $29 is close to double what you can get it for. The other on-line vendor prices are even worse! I have gotten some great buys from Amazon, but this is not one of them.

Sunbeam 6131 Hot Shot Hot Water Dispenser Review

Sunbeam 6131 Hot Shot Hot Water Dispenser
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've used a Hot Shot a whole lot for heating up water for drinking various types of tea and other beverages. If it's right for what you're brewing, it really is a great product--the water is heated within a minute or two, which is way faster than a kettle, and it holds the perfect amount for a large mug.
There are a couple things to note though. Like other reviewers have said, because of the product's design, some taller mugs (especially large vacuum-sealed caddy mugs) won't fit in to receive the water, so you either can't use them or have to dispense the water into another container first and pour it from there. Also, you definitely should empty the excess water after you're done--you might even want to open the lid while it's still warm to let the extra moisture evaporate. This is because the inside is metal, and re-re-reheated water that's been sitting in there gets a bit gross and might not be the healthiest.
The last issue, which affects me more than it may others, is that the Hot Shot heats the water to boiling or very near to boiling. This is great if you're drinking black tea, hot chocolate, or hot cider, but if you're drinking green tea (which takes hot water that is well below boiling), the water from the Hot Shot can be too hot and make the tea bitter. If it's right for the beverage you want to make, though, I can't recommend a more convenient or quick option.

HAMILTON BEACH BRANDS INC 40540 Aluminum Dispensing Coffee Urn -40 Cup Review

HAMILTON BEACH BRANDS INC 40540 Aluminum Dispensing Coffee Urn -40 Cup
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We purchased this unit from Bed Bath & Beyond as a replacement to the Hamilton Beach 40515 (HB) coffee urn (which was better in our opinion).
This unit looks pretty, and it holds >40 cups of water just as the HB did, but instead of being tall and slim, it is a short and fat unit.
The cup dispenser uses a pressure-release mechanism rather than a lift valve which at first glance seemed better because we can just put pressure on it with the coffee cup in hand rather than lifting a latch, but we were mistaken. The unit's pressure dispenser is placed at an angle, so it only dispenses full force when the bottom of the dispenser is pressed; when placing the coffee against the top of the unit, nothing comes out.
The problem with this is that the unit is so short, nothing larger than the small coffee cups will fit under the unit to allow it to dispense. This is a problem since most of our coffee cups are not the small ones. If you can fit the coffee cup under the dispenser to get it to dispense, you also have to be careful because unlike the spout-type dispensers, if you're not careful and there is not a sufficient amount of water in the unit, you'll knock it over and burn everyone around you including yourself when you reach to touch the burning hot unit with your bare hands to prevent it from falling and spilling.
Other than that, there is no way to see how much water is left in the unit, and the first day after using it with guests, it ran out of water and burned the bottom. Were there an indicator, we would have seen that we were running low on water and the bottom wouldn't have burned, possibly damaging the unit. Other units have either an indicator where you can see the water level, and others even have an automatic shut-off when the water level gets low and this unit has none of these features.

Sunpentown SP-3017 3-Liter Stainless-Steel Hot-Water Dispensing Pot Review

Sunpentown SP-3017 3-Liter Stainless-Steel Hot-Water Dispensing Pot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Having grown up in Singapore many years ago, I was quite familiar with items like this and National brand rice cookers. My mother had one of these 20 years ago until it gave out a few years back. I purchased this item for my husband for Christmas. He couldn't wait to open it and so we've been using it for the past couple of weeks. I wish I'd bought it sooner. My husband was given a Cuisinart stainless steel Grind & Brew several years ago. Fabulous machine. However, a couple of years ago my husband found that despite his being the only coffee drinker (at the time) in the house, that it was 100% MY responsibility to keep the machine clean and ready for morning brewing. I got tired of this and last year he "discovered" the pleasure of Nescafe Classico instant coffee.
Lazy to boil water in the pot, he'd microwave his cups of water, never bothering to boil me a cup. I've been searching for months for a nice airpot and found this. Unfortunately, I didn't go online in my search and bought one at my favorite Chinese supermarket in Dallas. I paid over $75 when I could have found one online for close to $30 less. However, I have to say that I'm 100% satisfied with this product. It's incredibly convenient. Great for coffee, tea, hot chocolate & malt drinks, not to mention ramen noodles & other instant food items or frozen veggies that require de-frosting. Why didn't I get this sooner????? So easy to use. The only wish I had is that it came in a larger capacity. I love it so much that I use it all the time and have to keep filling it up!
Well worth the money paid. Extremely convenient. Easy to use. Looks great.

Insinkerator F-601R Filter Cartridge for Hot Water Dispenser Review

Insinkerator F-601R Filter Cartridge for Hot Water Dispenser
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Strongly considered buying this over the less expensive F201r filter. However, after researching the quality of my tap water via the local utility (which was available online) and comparing it to the specs of the F601r, I realized that none of the extra stuff that the F601r filters out is actually in my tap water. The one possible exception is lead, but it's a newer home in California which already mandates low lead levels in residential plumbing. If you have an older home, it may be very worthwhile since corrosion in the plumbing can lead to leaching, but otherwise you really have to ask yourself whether it's necessary.
So, 1 star for scare tactics averaged with 5 stars b/c I'm sure it works fine in systems designed for it (like the less expensive F201r) gives us 3 stars overall. I prefer not to have money scared out of my wallet!

I love my thermo pot. I use it everyday. I used to boil water in the microwave prior to having this pot. It used to take 2-3 mins for each cup of water. Great quality. It saves me so much time, especially in the morning when I need to rush out the door with a hot mug of tea.
To avoid build-up in the pot, I fill it with purified water instead of tap water. I've had it for several months and I haven't had to clean out any deposits yet.

Quick & Hot Instant 190 Hot Water Dispenser CHROME Review

Quick and Hot Instant 190 Hot Water Dispenser CHROME
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had this item (earlier model) for at least 6 years and have never had a problem with it. It works perfectly all the time; water is always instant and HOT (note: temperature is adjustable). I just did a partial remodel of my kitchen and have to replace the garbage disposal and hot water per the plumber in order for his work to be guaranteed--rip off, I say,as they both work perfectly.
After looking at the Insinkerator and one other model model from the local big box stores, I am going to purchase this brand instead. The faucet is better--the Insinkerator lever was a tiny piece of black plastic--very obviously will break easily. It also looks great with the new kitchen faucet I purchased.
One last comment: The housing on this brand is not as bulky as one I previewed at Lowes (or was it Home Depot?). It fits better under my smaller 30" sink cabinet.

Sunbeam Hot Shot Beverage Machine Review

This is a marvelous appliance because it is just so darn simple! I bought one to keep in my office at work for making tea, and it has worked out great!
There isn't even an on/off switch. Just put water in it, plug it in, and a red light goes off when it is ready to pour. Put a mug under the dispenser, push the lever, and there you go!
One reviewer said that it does not have a fill-to line, and so water can spill over. I don't see this as a problem. Just heat as much water as you need. I fill up my mug with hot water, pour the water into the appliance, and dispense the water when it is hot back into the mug. Oddly enough, I get out exactly the same amount as I put in! Don't try to heat more than 16 ounces at a time.
The Hot Shot does only one thing, but boy does it do it well! Easy to use, simple to clean, and attractive on the counter. Love having hot tea without fussing with heating water in the office microwave!

Zojirushi #CD-K03EJU Inner Container Cleaner for Electric Pots, 4 Packets Review

Zojirushi #CD-K03EJU Inner Container Cleaner for Electric Pots, 4 Packets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have a 5L Zoji hot water pot and recently, used 1 packet (per directions) of this stuff to clean it. It worked great! We did do the cleaning cycle twice, just to be sure we got all the lime scale out. We have hard water, use the pot daily and after several months, it was EXTREMELY scaled up inside. For those who were wondering... This product is just 100% pure granular citric acid. Nothing else. Citric acid is also called SOUR SALT. The same stuff you would use for canning, cooking Jewish foods, etc. Each packet contains 30 grams or 2 tablespoons. There are 4 packets per box, 120 grams total or 4.23 ounces. Citric acid is available in powdered and various granular forms (for VARIOUS prices). This granular product had about the texture of regular table salt. Any form would work just fine. First, you need to dissolve this product in 1 cup or 240 ml warm water. Next, fill pot with plain water to just below max fill line and pour citric acid mixture into inner container. Then, turn on unit and warm for 1-3 hours. Dump water, then refill with fresh water, bring to a boil, dispense a cup (240ml) or so, to flush dispenser tube and pump, then dump remaining water. KEEP WIRE FILTER PLUG IN PLACE DURING ENTIRE PROCESS, IF YOUR UNIT IS SO EQUIPPED. Zojirushi says to use the programed cleaning cycle and follow the directions in your owner's manual, if your unit has this feature. Also, to adjust the amount of citric acid and the length of warming time, depending on the amount of scale in your pot. Zoji says this product may be used for all brands of water pots, probably because they are all made the same in one or two factories. Clean as a whistle, when done! Looks and works like new! Easy, too! Hope this is helpful! PS: It clearly states in the owners manual NOT to use vinegar (instead of citric acid) to clean your pot, as it will permanently damage your pots inner coating.

InSinkErator SST-FLTR 2/3-Gallon Stainless Tank and Filtration System Review

InSinkErator SST-FLTR 2/3-Gallon Stainless Tank and Filtration System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
(EDIT 01/27/2011) My initial review below was written based on an old design that had some quality issues. From my communication with Amazon shoppers like you, and the Consumer Relations folks at Insinkerator, it appears that current models have been redesigned to hopefully eliminate the problems I had. It also appears from those same communications that Insinkerator is going beyond the warranty period to replace some consumers' units when they discover this problem. Because of that I have upgraded my rating to a neutral 3-stars and modified my review somewhat. (In all fairness maybe I should retract it because of the design update. Have to give that some thought.) If you have problems with an existing unit, I also would encourage you to contact Insinkerator support to see what they can do for you. They're very good in my experience when your product is in warranty. I've heard from several folks that Insinkerator has replaced their unit outside of warranty too when they had this problem. Obviously there is some limit to what they will be willing to do, but the call is free. So if you've found this review because of a problem with your existing unit, your first step should be to call Insinkerator at 800-558-5712 and give them a chance to make it right. Post here with your experiences.(Original Review) This Insinkerator product suffers from a couple of design flaws. Like many here I found a puddle of water under my unit about two years after installing it. Checked into buying a new unit, but at $200 I wasn't going to give in easily. After reading other folks' experience with the unit I opened mine up and found the obvious source of the leak. There is a 1/4" plastic vent hose than helps handle the return hot water after you release the faucet handle. Since it's a non-pressurized unit, all water in the line up to faucet gets returned to the tank after you release the faucet handle. This hose, combined with a plastic overflow tank handles the water return. The root cause of the leaking problem is the type of tubing that was used for this one part. In the hot water heater it sits at near 200F, 24/7/365, and it can't handle the heat. Mine had turned a dark brown to nearly black color and had completely failed where the hose was routed right along the stainless steel tank. Every time we used the heater the return water ended up in our cabinet. Because of this one piece, customers everywhere are replacing their tanks prematurely. It can be fixed if you are handy. Please note that any modification of your unit will void the warranty, and rightfully so. If your unit is under warranty you should call Insinkerator at 800-558-5712 and have them replace it. If you buy a new unit, don't mess with it -- it's under warranty. Even if it's out of warranty, give them a call -- there's a good chance they'll do right by you. If you do try and repair it, know that you are on your own. Insinkerator strongly advises against any owner-initiated component repair. What I have done has been untested by Insinkerator and they have implemented their own fix in the current product design. Anything that happens during or after any repair you make will be your responsibility. And remember, nothing lasts forever.
HOW TO REPAIR: Basically you have to replace the hose with the right kind, and fortunately it's pretty easy. I recommend silicone tubing (rated to 500F), and you'll need some with 1/8" or 3/16" inside diameter. I bought some from an Amazon seller, 1/8" ID and 3/8" OD with thick 1/8" walls. (Edit: The original tubing is 3/16" ID but I went with 1/8 for a good snug fit. 3/16" ID tubing will also work quite well, and is what I would recommend at this point if you can find it.) Search on Amazon and you'll find what I'm talking about. Unfortunately it's only sold in 10' or longer lengths, and you need less than a foot. If you can find it locally, all the better. For good measure get a couple of small plastic zip ties (cable ties) or the proper sized spring clamp to secure the new tubing.
1) Unplug, drain, and remove the tank. After unplugging the power cord, run water thru the unit till cold water flows out the faucet. Then place a large bowl (1-gallon capacity minimum) under the tank, unscrew the drain screw, and let the tank drain into the bowl. If you can easily shut off the water supply do it now, but it is not necessary as long as no one uses the faucet when you are working on the tank. While draining, remove the three tubes from the top of the tank. One has a spring loaded clip you need to depress to remove the tube and the other two are silicone and plastic tubes that just pull off (might vary a bit based on the age of your unit). Loosen the mounting screws, and when the tank has drained, remove it from your cabinet and find a water resistant place to work on it.
2) Disassemble the tank. Really easy -- there is a small screw on the top that holds the two sides of the plastic shell together ... remove it. The two sides of the shell pull apart fairly easily but you might need to muscle it a bit. Once you get them apart, remove them from the unit and place aside. Then remove the temperature dial and put it aside. At this point you will have the guts of the unit with the steel tank encased in a dense styrofoam shell. Take a minute to examine the way it's put together (pictures wouldn't hurt either). You'll most probably easily pick out the problem part -- it will probably be very dark and brittle, and one end will be attached to the side of the water inlet port. Cut the hose somewhere before the metal (maybe plastic on yours) water inlet port it attaches to, and you will then be able to remove the upper styrofoam shell. After that you will see where the other end of the defective hose goes -- the bottom of the plastic overflow tank. You will need to cut the old zip ties (or maybe spring clamps) at each end of the hose to fully remove the old hose.
3) Inspect and dry the full unit. You may want at this point to remove the other styro shell piece and completely dry everything. At this point I discovered that the leaking water has badly rusted several of the screws holding the two pieces of the stainless tank together. IMHO they should have used stainless steel screws. I wasn't sure whether or not the rust has led to any leak in the tank itself, so I disassembled the stainless tank (fun to do with rusted screws I'll tell you). Mine took a T-10 Torx driver for the screws, and I eventually got them all out. A trip to the hardware store got me some #6 x 3/4" stainless machine screws and lock nuts. If you see anything else besides the hose that could be a problem, you'll need to deal with it for a complete repair.
4) Reassemble the unit, installing the new hose as you go. Put the tank back in the bottom styro shell. Attach one end of the silicone hose to the plastic overflow tank and secure with a zip tie cutting off the excess tie. Put the plastic tank back in the upper styro shell and slide the two back onto the top of the stainless tank. The plastic tank lines up with the silicone hose to the front of the unit. You'll route the hose along the tank flange to the right of the unit just like the old hose was. Once the shell is as far down as it goes, route the hose along the side of the styro shell following the groove for the old hose (not a perfect fit, but that's OK) and then over the top to the water inlet port. Hold it in place and see where you need to cut the silicone hose to fit the port without excess slack in the hose. Then cut the hose, attach it to the port and secure with a zip tie. Replace the thin upper piece of styro over the top of it all and reassemble it all into the plastic shell. Take your time and work the two halves together, making sure to get the power cord grommet correctly into the cutout in the shell. Get the bottom together first then work your way up. Pay attention to the new hose, keeping it tucked in behind the side of the front half of the shell (don't let it end up stuffed behind the back half of the shell. When done properly the shell will snap together nicely, and you may note a slight bulge where the new hose is if you used the thicker silicone tubing like me -- that's OK. Put the small screw back into the top the shell, and reinsert the drain screw.
5) Reinstall and test tank. Just reverse the removal steps. Open the faucet until water flows before plugging the tank in. Then use the faucet normally, checking regularly for any leaks. Mine has been leak free for two weeks, and should last for years now.
That's it, and it's probably easier than it sounds. For a grand total of less than $25 (with nine feet of hose left over) I have a fully functional tank again. The rest of the unit is very well made. The tank iteslf is built like a ... well, a tank, so I expect it to last years. Good luck with your home repair efforts if you try.
UPDATE 9/13/2010: A couple months now and still no leaks. I've been corresponding with another owner who ended up getting a replacement from Insinkerator. He sent me pics (thanks Jay!) that show they have changed the design of this particular tube that has been causing so many problems. The new design uses a different type of plastic for the tubing and avoids routing it along the steel hot water tank. They also seemed to have added a different type of gasket between the two tank halves. From what I saw, new units with this design won't suffer the same problem I described above, but how to tell whether any one new unit purchased at retail will have this fix incorporated??

The InSinkErator Stainless Steel Tank and Filtration System (SST-FLTR) saves time in the kitchen, delivering 200-degree-Fahrenheit near-boiling water from its compact 2/3-gallon tank. The tank delivers unmatched performance with its many features and benefits. The durable stainless steel construction means longer life, the adjustable thermostat gives you a water temperature that can be adjusted to your preference, the thermal protection system means the tank won't overheat and finally, dry start protection and tool free plumbing connections lead to worry free installation.
Included Filtration System Provides Better-Tasting WaterThe SST-FLTR includes InSinkErator's F-201 filtration system, the only water filtration system designed specifically for instant hot water dispensers. The filtration system reduces chlorine taste and odor for clean, fresh tasting water.
Quick-connect plumbing fittings make installation a snap and the sanitary quick-change filter cartridge is replaced in only seconds! This system is ideal for use virtually anywhere filtered water is needed, such as with ice makers and refrigerators.
Hundreds of Uses In Your HomeConsider how often you heat water in the kitchen. When you do, you'll realize just how useful the SST-FLTR will be. With 200-degree-Fahrenheit F near-boiling water available at your fingertips, you'll get more done in less time. Instead of waiting for water to heat, you can finish countless kitchen tasks in seconds and relax or get back to your guests.
An InSinkErator hot water dispenser does more than provide filtered hot water for preparing instant foods and beverages, it is also an incredible kitchen appliance. Use it to loosen stubborn jar lids, prepare pasta, warm baby food, clean crusty pans, cream butter, melt chocolate, remove fruit skins for pies, clean cheese graters, warm ice cream scoops, and warm pancake syrup. These are just a few examples of the many uses of an instant hot water dispenser.
Hot Water Instantly, How Does That Work? The SST-FLTR is so easy to use, you won't know how you lived without it. By activating your InSinkErator hot water dispenser's handle (dispensers sold separately), you'll send cool tap water into the tank. This water will displace the tanks' near-boiling water, which will flow out of the hot water dispenser's spout.
Water will be heated anywhere from 160 to 200 degrees, depending on the setting you choose, and it will flow into the tank's expansion chamber where it will be ready for later use. Release the handle, and the SST-FLTR's valve will close automatically, so hot water will stop flowing.
Easy to Install! The InSinkErator SST-FLTR features unique tool-free connections and a dry-start protection system for easy installation. It also features an adjustable temperature gauge, so you can adjust the water to your liking. Once connected to an InSinkErator hot water dispenser faucet (sold separately), this compact 2/3-gallon tank will give you instant access to filtered hot water--up to 60 cups an hour!
An Environmentally Friendly ChoiceHeating water with the SST-FLTR consumes less energy than a 40-watt light bulb that's left on for 24 hours and costs just pennies a day to operate. And because hot water is dispensed on demand, you only use the amount of water you need. This helps reduce water waste.
We Come To You Parts and Labor WarrantyThe SST-FLTR is backed by an exclusive three-year We Come to You In-Home Service Warranty. If you ever have a problem with your instant hot water dispenser system, an authorized InSinkErator service representative will come to your home and fix it, at no charge to you.
Note: Using other manufacturers' components with InSinkErator faucets or tanks voids all InSinkErator warranties.

Zojirushi CD-LCC50 Instant Hot Water Dispensers (5.0 L) - Black Review

Zojirushi CD-LCC50 Instant Hot Water Dispensers (5.0 L) - Black
Average Reviews:

I bought one of these for work. It lives in an office breakroom and gets plenty of use. In this environment, you want the biggest one you can get, or the easiest to refill. 5L is a win. Ease of refill on this unit is so-so if your spigot or whatever can't clear its tall height. It boils, gets to temp, and maintains temp just great. The lid removes for easier fill. Easy to tell how full/empty it is. I like the magnetic power coupling a lot. Has settings for 208, 195, and 175 deg F - enough flexibility, although the 175 is a touch hot for green tea. Weakness: the "timer" has only one setting: "off now, and then turn on (to stay) 7 hours from now." This timer is essentially a not-very-funny joke. There is no real time clock, no auto-on, no auto-off. Uses about 50W to keep water hot (the 4L CV-DSC40 is better insulated but more expensive). Has a handle for carrying (even hot & full) and has a built-in turntable underneath. Unit is completely satisfactory and good enough to make me want a better. Also won't go back to traditional kettle.

Our college son got this for college - during the summer he brought home this hot water dispenser and my husband and I were hooked on it. My husband makes French Press coffee every morning and I enjoy tea. Having hot water right away was wonderful. We would use it all day and refill it every evening. We loved the convenience of it. So when our son got ready to head back to college we had to have it.
We never had a problem with our sons machine but our new one did quit working after a month. We called and had great customer service take care of the whole thing quickly. We have not had a single issue with this replaced one.
Our son had an older model and there are a few things we miss from that one. There was a laser light of sorts that came out of the spout. There also was a beeping when you hit the unlock button and dispense button. Neither of these is missed if you never had it.
The nice new feature is the dual pump. You can now take the unit away from the plug and use on a table to serve hot water.
This machine is wonderful if you plan to use it everyday or even just during gatherings. You will enjoy its usefulness.

Zojirushi CD-WBC30 Micom Electric 3-Liter Water Boiler and Warmer, Champagne Gold Review

Zojirushi CD-WBC30 Micom Electric 3-Liter Water Boiler and Warmer, Champagne Gold

My old Zojirushi water boiler conked out after 8 years of regular use, so I ordered the CD-WBC30. Features have gotten better in 8 years: the LCD display shows the temperature, and I have 4 thermostat settings instead of two. I used to have to choose between 208 degrees (too hot) and 140 degrees (too cold). I can now also select 195 degrees and 175 degrees. The 175 degree setting is just fine for instant coffee and oatmeal. I've used this boiler for two months without problems.

Perfect for serving hot beverages to a crowd, this electric water boiler and warmer provides up to 101 ounces of hot water for instant coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and more. The unit features a micro-computerized temperature-control system and four keep-warm temperature settings that include 140, 175, 195, and 208 degrees F. Simple one-touch controls supply a reboil button, which reboils water to 212 degrees F; a dispense button; an unlock button that must be pressed before pressing the dispense button; and temperature- and timer-setting buttons. The unit's energy-saving timer function--from 6 to 10 hours--automatically turns on the boiler at a later time to save electricity, and its LCD display shows the actual water temperature at all times, as well as the temperature and timer settings. The dispenser also comes with a cafe-drip dispensing mode, which decreases the amount of water dispensed to 60 percent of the normal setting, making it suitable for brewing cafe drip coffee. Even more, its steam-save function automatically lowers the power just before boiling to reduce the amount of steam emitted from the steam vent. Other thoughtful details include automatic safety shut-off, a wide window water-level gauge that shows how much water remains in the unit, and an interchangeable melody or beep indicator to alert the completion of the boiling process or a low water level. A removable 3-foot power cord, swivel base, carry handle, and easy-to-clean nonstick interior provide added convenience. The 700-watt water boiler and warmer measures 11-3/16 by 8-3/16 by 11-1/2 inches.
