(More customer reviews)I ordered this cooler to use during the Thanksgiving holiday. I hosted our family dinner gathering and made 5 gallons of lemonaid to go along with the feast I'd prepared. Ease of use is definitely a plus! No leakage noted from the spout.
To cut down on time I made the lemonaid a day before and also put the ice in the container and to my surprise the remaining beverage did remain cold for days after. I am so pleased with my Igoo MaxCold 5 gal. beverage cooler and the quality of this product.

(More customer reviews)This cooler works great. We buy a 1 lb bag of ice and add 3-4 gallons of water. This will usually last thru whatever outdoor function we are at (picnics, soccer games, beach). I'd probably fill this dispenser at your destination unless you have a really secure way of keeping the container from going sidewise in your car and spilling.
We added the igloo beverage dispenser, but unless you are with a lot of other folks I probably wouldn't bother and just bring some plastic cups for your family members.
The lid is white and can get dirty easily, but it cleans up well with a soap and water. The container originally has a slightly funky new plastic smell, but scrubbing it with soap and water and letting it air dry out overnight seemed to fix it.
If you add gatorade be prepared for the inside white liner to get stained over time.
The 5 gallon size is much easier to manage than the much larger full size dispenser. This 5 gallon dispenser is easy to handle with one person (even when full), and you even works well for dumping water on the coach at the end of a big game.

(More customer reviews)My father purchased two of these Coleman 5-gallon water jugs for my wife and I as emergency water storage when we moved into a common hurricane area. We have used the Coleman water jugs for 8 years and have never had a problem with them. They can be laid on their sides on picnic tables, then open the vent on top and they serve as a great kid-friendly water service. The nozzles are easy to turn and easy to clean. During the hard Pennsylvania winters, I keep both of them full in case of emergencies. Every year before we start camping and fishing I wash them out with a table spoon of bleach and fill them with hot water. I would recommend these to my friends and I plan on buying a few more for safe keeping! Thanks, Coleman, for making another good piece of camping gear.

Recently my wife and I rented a small cabin and we made our meals at home, put the meals in this cooler for the trip and then we used it as a fridge at the cabin (the cabin just had electricity).
I didn't buy this to be a full time fridge so I can't say how many years it will last? So far it works just fine, is quiet and keeps everything cold (including beer!). It's benefit is that no ice is required, and in fact you are not suppose to use ice with it as the moisture from the melting ice may cause the fan to ice up. For those that have said that theirs froze up, they may have put ice in it? I do have another ice cooler to use when I can't plug this one in.
The cigarette lighter power cord is long enough so that you can place it about anywhere in your vehicle. But be sure to also buy the power cord for plugging into a standard electrical outlet when not in your vehicle.

Stanley Classic Lunchbox Cooler and Bottle Combo Review

Stanley has a reputation for ruggedness and high-quality, and this Stanley Outdoor Lunchbox cooler lives-up to that reputation. First of all this combo comes with one of Stanley's famous vacuum flask thermoses. Vacuum flask technology is the best technology for preventing thermal attrition (keeping your hot drinks hot and your cold drinks cold). I enjoy my coffee very hot and my water ice cold. When I received this I tested it and found that it kept my coffee nice and hot (not lukewarm) for over 2 days! As for cold, it had ice in my ice water in it after almost 3 days (and I live in the south where it's warm).
The entire bottle is stainless steel. It is double-walled, with a vacuum between the steel walls. The screw-on stopper seals very nicely and is made of a very strong plastic, it seems very solid. The cup fits well and is solid plastic with chrome on the outside.
The cooler has two compartments inside:
The larger compartment is 7-1/8 in. x 7-7/8 in. (inside dimensions)
and the smaller compartment is 7-1/8 in. x 4-1/4 in. (inside dimensions)
The cooler works very well (amazingly well, actually) keeping food nice and cool - I also add one of those plastic ice packs to keep it cold things really cold and at the end of the day the ice pack itself is barely melted/almost totally solid ice still. It has a nice locking handle that when placed in the upright position snap-locks the lid onto the cooler and locks the thermos between the cooler and the handle (there is a curved recess in the top of the lid that the thermos fits onto and when the handle is in place, that thermos will NOT fall-out accidentally). This device has a tiny fan and maybe a little compressor and heating element. It is capable of slowing the warming of already cold items or, in the warm mode, slowing the cooling of already warm items. It is not capable of cooling warm items (like a can of soda) nor capable or warming cold items. I cannot think of any practical use for it nor I bet can many other people...which is why it is being sold by a liquidator.

It sure seems like it's a tight lock once it's fully closed... when the locking tab isn't broken! This tab broke after just 2 days of use... incredible! The tab actually split vertically so that it can no longer lock the lid and cup together. And it wasn't even abused by some kid, it was properly handled by adults only. I guess I was the unlucky recipient of a defective product. As with such small items, I won't bother to send it back to Amazon (my time is worth more than the money), but this is clearly too expensive a set for the total lack of durability. For the same size, you're probably better off washing and reusing a glass jar of baby food. I will resume my quest for good quality freezing containers that actually close properly, but not buy this type of item online again. :(

Coleman 70-Quart Xtreme Cooler (Blue) Review

(More customer reviews)This review is for two similar Coleman Xtreme coolers, which are virtually the same size on the exterior: the 70-quart, 5-day, BLUE cooler and the 56-quart, 6-day, GREEN cooler. By the way, these coolers do not come equipped with a plastic shelf to keep food suspended above the melt water.
First, let me say that Coleman made its reputation years ago with its workhorse, white-gas cook stoves and lanterns. Today Coleman mostly makes products for backyard use and casual family camping. Coleman generally does not make quality products for avid outdoors people operating in rugged or demanding conditions, so you can't expect too much when purchasing a Coleman product.
That said, I went through Amazon.com to purchase a Green Coleman 6-day cooler because I didn't want to shell out hundreds of dollars more for a tougher product and because I needed a cooler that would fit comfortably between the gunwales of our canoes. So far, I have used this cooler on two river trips, the first of which lasted seven days in southern Utah during September, 09. The weather was hot, but could have been hotter. Our block ice lasted 6 days, and on the 7th day we had plenty of ice water, so the cooler achieved its 6-day rating.
This was followed with a 4-day trip in October, which wasn't long enough to test the cooling performance of the cooler, but did reveal the cooler's low-quality construction. On the second day out, one of the handles came off when its plastic retaining pin fell out. A member of our party had with them a smaller Coleman Xtreme cooler, and both of its hinges were broken off and useless. So, if you plan to use this cooler much, I would suggest taking the preventive measures described below. And then try to be gentle with it.
A few weeks ago I purchased a 70-quart, 5-day Blue cooler at Wal-Mart for $30. At this price I couldn't pass it up. Apparently the store had a few of these left over from last year, and they were being sold at a deep discount because Wal-Mart is featuring a different Coleman Xtreme product line this year. I haven't used this cooler yet, but I can describe how the two Xtreme coolers compare physically.

On the exterior, the two coolers are indistinguishable except for the colors. Same cheap plastic hardware on both. On the interior, the 6-day green cooler has noticeably thicker walls implying more insulation, and thus 20 percent less volume than the blue 5-day cooler.
Here are the fixes I have adopted in an effort to overcome the flimsy hardware issues. When I got home from the second river trip, I used a screwdriver to pry out the plastic retaining pins on the two handles (two pins each) and glued them back into place with Gorilla glue. This I expect will hold the pins in place for a while. On the newer cooler, I removed the plastic handles altogether and replaced them with rope handles. This type of handle has the advantage of remaining in a fixed position (unlike the original sliding plastic handles) allowing me to run a strap between them to secure the lid in case of a canoe upset.
On the interior of each cooler, I have screwed into place a short nylon strap between the lid and the side wall. The strap is long enough to allow the lid to open beyond 90 degrees and remain in an upright and open position, but the strap is short enough to prevent the lid from extending backward far enough to place excessive strain on the hinges. I am hoping this will keep the hinges from snapping anytime soon.

Coleman Cooler Hinges Review

The cooler is awesome, its the extreme model and holds ice like crazy, but why do I have to replace the hinges? Why would I buy these again knowing they have a short life span? I'm considering it as they will fit, but don't like idea of having to replace them all the time.
