ZeroWater ZD-013 Filtration Pitcher with Electronic Tester, Filter Included Review

Most of us have had water filtration systems; either the under sink, mounts to faucet, or most commmonly, the filter-in-pitcher system. I saw this on a late night infomercial and was hooked. I will keep this review short and sweet:

Pluses: Nice attractive color, Spigot and valve ON the pitcher so no need to remove the pitcher from the fridge everytime you want some water, Zero-water meter is included (and can be stored IN the pitcher)
Minuses: Capacity could be greater. Filter is so massive that you go through the filtered water QUICKLY, especially if you have a larger family;
AND...the #1 drawback: This pitcher filters VERY SLOWLY. I am used to other Brita-type units and this is the slowest I've ever seen. Often when the pitcher is over half-full, and I fill the top reservoir, it doesn't drain completely after 3-4 HOURS. I have to keep a 1/2 gallon bottle in the refrigerator filled with cold filtered water since this filters so slowly.
So, great concept, water is fantastic, but pitcher filters way too slowly if you have a family larger than 2-3.

With the ZeroWater Pitcher you can get cleaner, fresher water without tapping into your plumbing line, using bulky water coolers, and wasting your money on expensive bottled water. Thanks to an innovative five-stage filtration process, the ZeroWater Pitcher offers more complete water filtration than ordinary carbon filters. And for convenience, this pitcher neatly stores right in your refrigerator door.
More Effective, Affordable, and Environmentally Friendly Than Other FiltersEven if you live in a municipality that cleans or treats water, water can pick up chemicals on its way from the treatment plant to your faucet, giving your tap water a metallic or chlorinated taste. Water that's purified with a ZeroWater Pitcher, however, tastes the way water should: crisp, clean, and fresh.
Tested and certified by the Water Quality Association and NSF International for removal of several minerals, ZeroWater is the only filtration system that fits the FDA definition of purified bottled water. And at a fraction of the cost of ordinary carbon filters.
The ZeroWater pitcher not only improves the taste of your tap water, it also helps to improve the environment. When you use the ZeroWater Pitcher, you'll reduce your use of plastic water bottles that clog up landfills and harm ecosystems. You'll also contribute to water conservation, because unlike reverse-osmosis systems, ZeroWater is gravity operated and doesn't waste electricity or water.
Five-Stage Filtration System for Water That Scores a Perfect "000"At the heart of every drop of water that's purified by a ZeroWater Pitcher is an independent, laboratory-calibrated water tester called a TDS meter. TDS stands for "Total Dissolved Solids" and represents the amount of dissolved substances that can negatively affect the way water tastes.
Unlike conventional gravity-fed or carbon water filters that remove only certain substances from your water, ZeroWater's patented Ion Exchange System with Five-Stage Technology provides the only filtered water to measure an absolute "000" on the TDS scale, which means that 100% of dissolved solids have been completely removed.
To help put this in perspective, meter readings for tap water average between 075 and 300. Conventionally filtered water measures between 030 and 500, and bottled water measures between 000 and 350. Unlike the alternatives, with ZeroWater you can be sure you'll get 100% great-tasting water.
Battery-Powered Meter Makes it Easy to Test Your WaterThe beauty of the ZeroWater Pitcher is that you don't have to accept purity claims at face value. Test your water yourself with the included meter and watch as the zeros come together to ensure that you're getting the best-tasting water possible.Powered by two easy-to-replace 1.5-volt button cell batteries (included), this meter also lets you know the status of your filter. For instance, if your meter reads "006," it's time to replace the filter.
Sleek, Contemporary Design for Ease of UseThis single-chamber pitcher features a sleek, patent-pending design that allows for easy storage in your refrigerator door. For added convenience, a handy dispenser at the bottom of the pitcher's handle allows you to access water without removing the pitcher from the fridge.
What's in the BoxPitcher, one filter, and one TDS meter.

ZeroWater ZJ-003 Filtration Water Cooler Bottle with Electronic Tester, Filters Included Review

We loved our zero water system. After a few months the water started tasting funny and had a foul fishy smell. The meter tested the water under 6 so we knew the filters should still be good. We changed the filters any way, way before time. Still fishy smell. I cleaned the filtration bottle. Still the same. It wasn't till I took apart the stand the water filtration was on that I discovered a film of slime in our cooler. At the time we had one of those cold/hot dispensers a few feet tall. I mean I really had to take it apart and check every palce the water went. After I did that, the smell went away. A few months later it came back. Took it apart and slime again. We changed the water filtration to a countertop no cold/hot type holder and havn't had any problems since. The filters last many months now. Also if you put water in the filtration system above the middle white ring....it will leak. Water is meant to only be stored in the lower 1/2 of the system.

ZeroWater Replacement Filter Review

I was having the problems to a higher extreme than most of you complaining about replacemnet cost. My filters last only about six days, my water meas 781 to 731 depending on the day (I hae no idea why). If you go to the site or read your manual they tell you that if you are using an excessive amount of filters call them to see how they can help. When I did they told me they sold the filters in sets of 16 for $159.99, which break down to about $10 a filter. Which saves you quite a bit. So if you are feeling that the replacement cost is to much call the 1800 number in your manual thats what I did. That cost includes shipping. It's like buying two and getting a filter free for every two you buy.

This is a value pack of 4 filters. Most conventional carbon filters only filter certain substances from your water. ZeroWater? patented Ion Exchange System, with FIVE combined technologies, provides the only filtered water that meets FDA definition for purified bottled water. Stage 1 - Activated carbon infused micron cloth, Stage 2 - Multi-layer system using activaed carbon and oxidation reduction alloy, Stage 3 - Distributor that maximized contact, Stage 4 - Comprehensive ION EXCHANGE array, Stage 5 - Non-woven membrane to remove fine particles. Filter cartridge life is based on household water consumption and inlet water quality. How often the cartridge needs to be replaced is determined by how much water you put through the system and how hard the cartridge has to work to clean the water you put through it. Each filter has perforations or holes in the top- The holes exist to help speed up the filtering process and avoid potential cases of air lock in the water flow. Filtering your water through ZeroWater? filters not only improves the taste of your tap water, it also prevents you from throwing plastic water bottles into the trash and clogging up landfills. Zero Technologies, LLC is proud to be the only major company that recycles gravity filter cartridges from U.S. customers. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without proper disinfection before or after the system.

Greenway Replacement Filter for GWF7 Review

I've used these filters for about 2 years now (with the whole water dispenser bottle system).
They are great. They really do make tap water taste like bottled water.
You need to change the filter about every 4 months even though it says 6 months. That may just be because we drink a lot of water.
Over all a great product!

Greenway® Water Dispenser Filtration System Review

Greenwayandreg; Water Dispenser Filtration System

My dad and my sister both have this dispenser. When I saw it, I knew it was a great idea for saving money since we are retiring this year. We have had a water dispenser for several years and it has been great for me to remember to drink water when ever I am thirsty. I know longer drink any type of pop.
My issue with this dispenser is, even though it should fit just about any dispenser, it does not work with mine. It leaks. My dispenser is to old. So now this water dispenser sits in the garage in a box wait for my current system to fail so I can then buy a new dispenser that will accommodate the water dispenser.
Such a disappointment.

ZeroWater ZD-023 23-Cup Water Dispenser and Filtration System Review

ZeroWater ZD-023 23-Cup Water Dispenser and Filtration System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I did quite a bit of research before purchasing the ZeroWater ZD-023 Dispenser/ Filtration System. After 6 weeks of use, it performs like a champ, and I'm still on the first filter. I'd guess I've filtered something like 30 gallons, and it still reads 000 ppm on the included TDS meter. My water is from a private domestic well, untreated, and meters on average 220 from the tap.
I compared bottled water from the supermarket. Their "spring water" metered at 065, the store "distilled" at 008. Nearby distributed water system treated water metered at 280. A local business imports their water in large jugs, and they allowed me to check it. "Drinking water" metered at 070; reverse osmosis distilled at 002.
Minimum EPA standards are 500 ppm; New Mexico state requires no more than 1000.
So there are some baselines. My ZeroWater system performed very well. The taste is fine.
The most negative review here didn't mention quality of incoming water, so I found it less than helpful.
Pros of the ZeroWater unit:
* A limited-time $15 rebate made the larger unit far cheaper than the pitcher. Plus, nothing on Target's shelves (sorry, Amazon, this time I wanted to actually see and compare products) could match the price.
* Quality of water after filtration, as mentioned.
* A helpful 1-800-503-2939 customer service number. Two of my questions were answered in short order.
* I was told all ZeroWater units take the same filter, so the part interchangeability is a plus.
* Small numbers of filters run about $15 each. A gallon of store distilled runs about 96 cents with tax. With that math, the ZeroWater filter pays for itself at about a 16 gallon breakeven. I would guess you'd get at least 50% more from the filter, depending on your water, effectively bringing cost down down to 64 cents in this scenario.
* The ZeroWater convenience factor is harder to measure. Put it this way: a gallon of water weighs about 8.3 pounds. Do you really enjoy hauling that from store to car, then car into home?
* ZeroWater encourages recycling. There's a form on their website which you can print out, enclose with your shipped-back filter, which will then give you $10 toward purchase of other ZeroWater products. This includes new filters, of course. Your shipping cost is more than covered.
* In winter, I use a fair amount of water in a vaporizer. In this application, using distilled water keeps the vaporizer clean, and avoids the need for de-scaling/ cleaning with the toxic chemicals the manufacturer recommends.
Possible cons:
* The spigot is a spring-operated design with an O-ring seal. I would guess this would be the only part which might fail, possibly creating a leak. However, I would also guess the spigot could be replaced a a reasonable cost from ZeroWater.
I highly recommend this product. I have yet to be disappointed with any of its features.
-- Mike M.

With its generous 23-cup capacity, this innovative water-filtration system keeps pure, filtered drinking water conveniently accessible--its sleek, space-saving design fits neatly on the counter or on a shelf in the refrigerator. Functioning as both a water filter and a handy dispenser, the unit comes equipped with a push-button spout for simple one-handed dispensing into a glass, water bottle, or other beverage container, or even into a pot for cooking. Unlike conventional two-stage carbon filters, the dispenser's next-generation filtration system combines five levels of water-purifying technology. First, its activated carbon and oxidation reduction alloy removes the chlorine taste typically associated with tap water. Next, its Ion Exchange stage removes virtually all dissolved solids that may be left over from public water systems or even leached into water from aluminum, lead, and other types of piping. Finally, three additional stages of filtration remove other impurities and ensure the water receives the appropriate amount of treatment time to deliver a "000" reading on the included laboratory-grade Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) water-testing meter. Other accessories include a patented dual Ion Exchange water filter, a handy user manual, and $35 in coupons for future filter purchases. Thoughtfully designed, the water dispenser also provides a built-in TDS meter holder, a flip-up lid for easily adding more water, and a shape that completely dispenses all the water inside, which means no stale water to worry about. A useful addition to any busy and health-conscious household, the 23-cup water-filtration dispenser measures approximately 6 by 11-1/5 by 15-1/5 inches and carries a 90-day limited warranty.
