(More customer reviews)Sorry folks, but I don't know if I got a lemon or what, but after following instructions on how to install the filter,etc, the end result was water tasting like plastic. The only way i can assume this happened is that the filter sat in the warehouse in the dog days of summer long before it came into the consumers hands. Too bad because it installed and was fine otherwise, but the taste cannot be ignored. Amazon had the best price for this but if I were you, I would probably buy locally if you can. Otherwise, it's a crapshoot in terms of knowing if you will get one that is free from plastic taste or not.

(More customer reviews)I chose this product because for one, they were way cheaper than buying them at Sears for $40, for another, the reviews said that they were good filters and the water was good.
My opinion: I have avoided drinking water out of my frig since I got these filters because I might as well be drinking out of the tap. The only way I can drink the water out of my frig is if it's so cold I can't taste it. Even slightly chilled is terrible. I would rather spend the extra money and get a good filter that gives me bottled water quality out of my frig.
If you don't drink straight water out of your frig, the filter is fine, but if you drink water frequently, spend the money and get you a good filter.

(More customer reviews)I bought a 6 pack of these Frigidaire water filters so I would have enough to last 2-3 years.
They can be used for approximately 6 months before needed replacement. I did notice that the
filters really should be changed maybe around 4-5 months instead. The signs of it needed changing
is when the water flow seems slower and the stream is not as forceful as normal. They are very
easy to remove and replace in my Frigidaire side by side. When I saw how much Lowes wanted for
the same filters, I decided to purchase these on Amazon from a trusted seller.
I highly recommend these filters for general water filtering.
If you want a special filter that removes all chemicals including Fluorine, be prepared to
spend a lot more.

Price is about 40% less than Samsung (200 gallons less = 40% less so you get what you pay for).
I typically use this product for up to a year and taste is still pure, not even chlorine taste.
Previous reviewer who said it tastes like pee must have his water hooked up to his toilet.

(More customer reviews)I have had my Frigidare refrigerator for about 5 years now. The filters used to have a thick housing over the two smaller cylinders and it worked wonderfully. I never experienced any problems with those filters. About 2 years ago they changed the design taking away the outer housing leaving only the two smaller cylinders. Since then I have been through 8 filters in two years. When you cover the outlet hole and blow into the inlet hole, you can see the water spirt out of the side of the cartridge. It doesn't always occur at the top seal; however, many times the leak is in the plastic but you can see where the seam glue has run down to the spot where it's leaking. It appears that the glue they are using is dissolving the weak plastic and causing it to leak. I'm not sure what you can do about it but I just save my receipts and take them back about every 2-4 months when they fail. It's a pain but the manufacturer won't do anything about it. I just won't buy another Frigidare in the future!

(More customer reviews)I purchased these to replace the OEM filters that I have been spending $45 a piece on at Lowes. Everything I read about these filters indicated longer life and obviously a MUCH better value from a cost perspective. They were well packaged and fit perfectly. The only thing is a slightly 'off' plastic taste. As I do with OEM filters I flushed several gallons through the filter before using any of the water. Still, there was this persistent bitter plastic taste. After running several more gallons through it the taste began to diminish and has become less noticeable over time. I have used dozens of filter / softener technologies over the last 20 years and this is the first time I have had this taste perception issue. I willl have to see what the next filter is like in several months to determine if I will purchase again.+++++ 7/14 update: The first of the three filters is about due for a replacement. This really isn't any longer than the OEM Samsung filter. However, we did have an extra person in our household for many months of it's life so it may have given an extra 10-20%. Other than that there is nothing else to report, the water was fine after cycling an extra couple of gallons out of it at start-up with no other taste perception issues.

(More customer reviews)Not much to say here. This is what you get when your catridges need replacing on your AP-DWS1000 Drinking Water System. Our AquaPure just stopped working one day; the water wouldn't flow out. It's because we hit the 625 gallon limit. So, that's the "clear indication" you need to buy the new cartridges. When you replace the old ones, be sure to have a mixing bowl or bucket to catch the water that will spill out. I checked with company (which is owned by 3M). Unfortunately the old cartridges cannot be recycled at this time. What a waste! That's why I deducted one star.
Anyway, putting in the replacements is pretty easy: turn off the water supply, lift up the plastic cap, and remove the old catridges. There is an order to re-installing them, so pay attention to cartridge #1 versus #2. Then spin the little dial to give you 625 more gallons of filtered water.

The water tasted horrible (extremely chemically) from the very first glass (after the 3 minutes flush that was recommended). I used the first filter for about 1 month and the horrible taste was just as strong as the first glass. I am throwing this one (along with the other 2 that came in the pack) away. I went to Best buy and bought a factory Frigidaire filter and the water is back to tasting amazing, crisp and clean. If you shop around online you can find factory filters for less. But remember, you get what you pay for. This has been a $23 lesson to never buy cheap water filters.

I'm not sure why there is such a difference in products, as this is the recommended filter for my refrigerator, but I do not recommend it, I will shop for a generic replacement.
